What is a Private Investigator?
A Private Investigator is a professional trained in the art of investigations and surveillance. In most states, a license is required to ensure investigators hold certain qualifications, training and experience. A private investigator will work to find whatever information or evidence you need. The work that a private investigator does is strictly confidential and stays between you and the investigator.
• You should always have a face-to-face contact with your PI. Most Pi's will work for you without a face to face, however, remember your PI representing you and having a good relationship with your PI can sometimes make or break a case.
• Are they insured? Keep in mind that the private investigator is working on your behalf; therefore, if someone is hurt or there is property damage such as a car accident, you may be responsible. The PI should have at least a one million liability policy to protect his clinics.
• Professional Associations: Ask your PI about associations they belong to and if they provide continuing education.
• Remember the old saying; you get what you pay for. So check them out before you hire them.
